TSA is a parent-run, volunteer-supported non-profit organization and we rely on the time and talents of our
parent volunteers. All parents are expected to serve in a volunteer role. This season, baseball and softball
teams must fill 11 volunteer positions prior to receiving team uniforms. There are several roles available,
many of which require just one hour of service during the season. Check with your coach and/or Team Parent to volunteer!

Team Parent (1+ volunteer): The Team Parent plays an important role in team communication and coordination. No former experience is required, training is provided, and the league’s Team Parent Coordinator provides instruction and support throughout the season. The Team Parent submits the Team Volunteer form (required for receipt of uniforms), makes arrangements for post-game snacks (concession
tickets), oversees team contributions to the spring silent auction, and reminds parents about volunteer commitments throughout the season.

Dugout Parent/Game Day Support (1 volunteer, 10-12 games): Assist coaches in the dugout before,
during, and after games by (1) setting out equipment bins (if applicable), (2) organizing players in dugout
during games (if desired by coaches, mostly applicable in younger divisions), and (3) assisting with clearing players, equipment, and trash from dugout promptly after games.  Dugout Parent is responsible for arranging for a parent to cover for them if they cannot be at a game and informing coach of who will stand in.

Scoreboard Operator (1 volunteer, 5-6 games): Operate scoreboard for all of team’s “away” games (approx. 5-6 games). Scoreboard Operator is responsible for arranging for another parent to operate scoreboard if they cannot attend an away game and informing coach of parent who will assume their duties.  Generally speaking, kids should not be asked to operate the scoreboard without parent supervision.

Scorekeeper (1 volunteer, 5-6 games): Keep official game score in standard baseball/softball scorebook for all of team’s “home” games (approx. 5-6 games). Experience with keeping score in a standard baseball/softball scorebook is ideal, but a parent interested in volunteering and willing to learn may get a little instruction in keeping score. Scorekeeper is responsible for arranging for another parent to keep score if they cannot attend a home game and informing the coach of the parent who will assume their duties.

Concessions (4 volunteers, 1 hour each): Two adult volunteers must be in the concession stand at all times, and most teams are assigned to two 1-hour shifts per season. Ideally, four volunteers will split the hour, with two volunteers covering the first ½ hour and two volunteers covering the second ½ hour.

Tarp Team (2 volunteers): Assist with putting down or rolling up field tarps as required due to weather conditions. Volunteers are expected to make a concerted effort to respond to calls for volunteers when needed. Our goal is to assemble a team that is larger than required to lay down or roll up the tarps on a specific occasion in order to accommodate conflicts and have sufficient volunteers when required.

League Event Support (1 volunteer, 1 hour total): Fulfill one 1-hour volunteer shift during the season.  Volunteer will receive a SignUpGenius link to select their preferred date and time from one of four events:

  • March 6-7 – Opening Weekend pre-game ceremonies (date and time can correspond to your child’s
first game). Assist with lining players up on baselines and keeping events on schedule.
  • March 27 – Family Fun on the Field (1 hour between 9 AM and 3 PM). Provide on-field support for
home run derby (older players) and obstacle course (younger players), assist with silent auction.
  • April 17 – Picture Day (1 hour between 7 AM and 3 PM). Assist with lining up teams in staging area and keeping events on schedule, support photography vendor with tasks as needed.
  • May 22 – Community Partner Day (1 hour between 8 AM and 10 AM). Assist with sponsor arrival and set-up, provide support to event co-leads as needed.
